Revealed in Makkah to define the essence of Islamic monotheism (Tawhid), Surah Al-Ikhlas (The Sincerity) is celebrated as equivalent to one-third of the Quran. It outlines the absolute purity of the Creator's nature in four verses: declaring that God is One, the Self-Sufficient Master needed by all, who neither begets nor is begotten, and to whom there is absolutely no equivalent.
Transliteration
Qul huwa Allahu ahadun
Translation
Say, “He is God, the One
Surah Al-Ikhlas represents the absolute essence of pure monotheism, equated by the Prophet ﷺ to one-third of the entire Quran. Revealed when polytheists and rabbis asked the Prophet ﷺ: 'Trace the genealogy of your Lord—what is He made of?'
Transliteration
Allahu alssamadu

God, the Absolute
Defines God as 'As-Samad'—The Self-Sufficient Master upon whom all creation depends for every heartbeat, while He depends upon nothing and has no physical needs.

He begets not, nor was He begotten
Definitively rejects all biological anthropomorphism: God neither begets children nor was He ever begotten by parents, possessing no partners or equals.

And there is nothing comparable to Him.”
